While you spend your holiday in the unique bays of Canakkale, you can also perform your diving activity. You have the chance to taste an underwater adventure in Turkey. Many ships that sank as a result of the Çanakkale Sea Wars (1915) attract the attention of diving enthusiasts.

Diving Tour Types

Canakkale Diving Tours are made with two options. The first is the dives to a certain depth (called Discovery), where anyone without a health barrier can participate. The second is scuba diving, which requires professionalism and experience. Diving is a serious task as the Dardanelles Sea is hard in terms of currents.

Dardanelles Strait

Around the Dardanelles and at points such as Seddülbahir, Anzac Bay and Suvla Bay, there are numerous underwater objects related to the Dardanelles Strait War (1915).

Saros Bay

Saros Bay is ideal for diving enthusiasts.

In Saros, there are many shipwrecks that divers will be amazed to see. It is possible to find diving boats in three towns in Saros. One of them, the Güneyli District, can be reached by leaving a turnout 10 kilometers before coming to Gallipoli. You can dive with dive boats or from the shore in Ibrice, another location.  In Kabatepe, you can do reef diving as well as wreck diving.  Unfortunately, there is no dive boat in the Kömür Lİmanı Bay which is preferred by divers, but it is possible to dive from the shore.

Kadırga Bay

Kadirga Bay near Assos, and the islands of Bozcaada are areas with high visibility and full of natural beauties. In these places, all kinds of animate can be seen.

Canakkale Diving Destinations

German Torpedo Ship

The ship, which was shot by the British warship Irresistible in World War I on March 18, 1915, is located just outside the Çanakkale marina. The shipwreck at a depth of 16 meters is in the middle of the dense sea traffic of the Dardanelles.

Water Ship Wreck

The ship’s wreck, which was used during the war to produce freshwater for soldiers, is located in Suvla Bay. It is a beautiful shipwreck protected from natural conditions. Located at a depth of 14 meters, the wreck is suitable for 1st level divers.

Anzac Bay Landing Gear

Between the Gulf of Arıburnu and Suvla, both on the beach and 3-5 meters underwater, you can see hundreds of landing boats were used by British and Anzac soldiers, during land and sea expulsions, in the First World War. Two of them, which lie at a depth of 42 meters off the coast of Arıburnu and at a depth of 27 meters within the Gulf of Suvla, are two of the most remarkable dive sites today.

Captain Franco Wreck

Captain Franco was a Greek-flagged cargo ship carrying asphalt raw materials. It sank after a collision with a Romanian cargo ship. The shipwreck stands intact with its poles, prop, and rudder. What is interesting is the colorful soft corals in the secluded parts of the wreck. However, since the ship is quite long, most of the wrecks are not easily navigable because of the current. Taking into account the depth of 40 meters, such diving requires both experience and at least an “ADVANCED” badge.

Majestic Shipwreck

Majestik was built in 1895 and was the oldest communication vessel of the British. This ship was sunked by the U-21 German submarine on 18 March 1915 at the Dardanelles Sea Battle. The shipwreck is located in Morto bay near Seddülbahir which is located at the very endpoint of the Dardanelles.

Lundy Shipwreck

This shipwreck of 188 tons, built-in 1908, is in the Gulf of Suvla. Lundy, one of the ships that the British and Anzac left when fleeing, is always a sought-after diving spot. The ship’s skyline appears after the 13th meter. At the 18th meter, you can walk around the ship’s deck at the bridge.

Small Bony Cape

It is under the Seddülbahir lighthouse after Morto Bay which is located at the exit of the Dardanelles. This cape is very close to the Majestik wreck. The two dinghies, which stand side by side, sit in the sand at a depth of 30 meters.

Great Bony Cape

It is frequented by local divers and those coming from Istanbul. During your dives in this region, it is possible to come across lipsoose, amkina, grouper, tulipfish and many types of sponges and corals.
